Arithmetic that has to agree with itself
An addition square is a small logic puzzle wearing a math-fact costume: the missing number in a row also has to satisfy its column, so children work back and forth instead of straight ahead. That cross-checking is the whole point — it is the same reasoning that later powers algebra, arriving years early and disguised as a game.
Every puzzle is generated from its own solution outward, so it is always solvable and never ambiguous. Start with 2 × 2 grids and generous hints, move up to 3 × 3 with fewer given numbers when those get quick. Four or six puzzles per page, answers in green.
