Fact practice that feels like a hunt
A child who does twenty addition problems in a row is doing drill; a child hunting a grid for pairs that make ten is doing the same arithmetic dozens of times without noticing. Pairs sit side by side or one above the other, so every scan of the grid is a rapid-fire round of “does this make ten?”
The grids are constructed, not random: the pairs are planted first and every remaining square is then checked against its neighbours so no accidental extra pair sneaks in — which means the count on the page is exact and the answer key is genuinely complete. Choose a target of 10, 12, 16 or 20, and seven or ten pairs to find.
