Ten’s best friends
The pairs that make ten — 7 and 3, 6 and 4, 8 and 2 — are the most useful eleven facts in arithmetic, because our whole number system leans on ten. A child who knows the partners instantly can solve 8 + 5 by thinking “8 needs 2 to make ten, that leaves 3, so 13” — the make-a-ten strategy that carries all the way into multi-digit math.
Each fact here is a missing-addend question, not a sum to compute: 7 + __ = 10 asks “who is 7’s partner?”, which is the recall being trained. Facts deal least-practiced-first so shuffling spreads all eleven pairs evenly across sheets, and the strategy pill can switch the same generator to doubles practice. Answers in green.
