The facts kids learn first — on purpose
Doubles are the easiest addition facts to memorize — there’s a rhythm to 4 + 4 = 8 and 6 + 6 = 12 that children pick up almost like a song. That’s why they’re taught as anchor facts: once the doubles are automatic, dozens of nearby facts come free. The doubles-plus-one strategy is exactly that payoff — see 6 + 7, think “double 6, add 1,” answer 13, no counting.
The strategy pill switches between pure doubles for the first pass, doubles +1 once they’re fluent, and make-10 partners (over on its own page too). Twelve or sixteen facts per sheet, dealt least-practiced-first so every shuffle spreads the whole fact family evenly. Answers in green.
